Writing a Thank You Note to the Firefighters

WRITING

Unit:  Transportation

Objective:   Students will learn about the parts of a letter by writing a thank-you note to the fire department. 

Materials:  Large sheet of paper,

                  Markers, crayons, stamp pads

      Fire truck shaped papers for students to sign.

 Students will brainstorm characteristics that are typical of firefighters and fill in an acrostic using the letters: F-I-R-E-F-I-G-H-T-E-R.  Students or teachers will fill in the words.  All students will sign the note by writing their name with marker or crayon or use their fingerprint or handprint.
