Toy bug vacuums can be switch adapted by placing a rubber band around the trigger and using a battery interrupter.  Students can vacuum up teacher made tissue paper bugs.  Discuss how the vacuum works.  Can you feel the suction?

 

What other types of machinery uses a vacuum?  Compare the large bug vacuum to the small bug vacuum.  Have a race and chart how many bugs each vacuum can pick up in one minute.  Compare and Contrast.
