This activity was part of an “Animals” theme.  Students had to match an animal

with it’s sound.  Adaptations included large graphic symbols, and small object

representations.  Using a card reader students were able to either scan the

“animal” cards with the symbols attached or use a single switch to activate the

“animal” card that is placed in the card reader by an adult or peer.  The card reader would produce the animal sound.  Students could either point to or pick up the picture symbol or vocalize which animal matched the sound.

Note that items and symbols are placed on a dark background to provide

contrast and reduce visual clutter.
