My Braille Tools

Objective: Seek information through observation, exploration and descriptive investigations with simple science tools
Activity:
- Students will explore Braille and various forms of technology that can create Braille, such as a slate stylus, Braille writer, etc.
- The students will learn about the Braille cell by using a cupcake pan (one that makes 6 large cupcakes) and tennis balls to simulate Braille dots.
- The students will learn how to use a slate stylus by first using the stylus to poke holes into paper placed over a mesh screen or carpet square.
