When purchasing commercially bought books, select books that can be adapted easily. Choose books that have large graphics and simple wording. Books can be adapted by adding braille, textures and store bought items. These items can be used as manipulatives.
The Books shown above "Five Little Pumpkins," "1,2,3," and "Five Little Ducks" were all purchased at a local bookstore. Manipulatives were purchased at a dollar store. Manipulatives should be as realistic as possible and should match the main topic.
