Identifying and Sorting Shapes

This is an example of a simple adaptation using materials found within the home/classroom.
* Create tactile shape cards by using bright contrasting colors.
* Outline shape with black puffy paint or glue.
* Attach shape card to a craft stick and then tape to the outside of an
empty clean food container
*Place shape manipulatives in an extra container.
All of the containers can be attached to a tray with velcro.
This will decrease movement and secure containers during tactile
exploration.
Placing the containers on a tray creates a tactile boundary. Students can explore shape manipulatives both visually and tactually and sort them into correlating containers.
