Inexpensive Talking Calculator
Inexpensive Talking Calculator

This talking calculator was purchased for $5.00's at the store "Five Below." This calculator comes with large print on a flexible vinyl surface. The calculator also has a magnet on the back and can be attached to a metal surface. Add braille numbers or textures to create tactile markers.
Activity: It's never too early to begin exploring the use of a calculator. Place the calculator on a magnetic cookie sheet ( you can find these at the dollar store). Use the cookie sheet as a tray. Place a certain number of manipulatives on the tray such as 4 frogs. Ask the students to count the number of frogs and to give you the answer by pressing that correct number on the calculator. Once the students are familiar with all the keys on the calculator, use manipulatives to teach addition and subtraction problems.. and concepts such as "one more/less."
