                                                                       Big Books

Using "Big Books" can be very effective with some young visually impaired children.  The child uses the big book, in the same way that the other children are using a smaller book (individual reading, group reading, etc.) The text and pictures are larger which may allow the child to view it better.

Caution: Not all visually impaired children can use enlarged materials.  Children with visual field deficits will actually miss more information when materials are enlarged.  Ask the vision professional if "big books' will be effective for your student.
