BearWelcome to The Maryland School for the Blind's Website for Young Children!

If you are a pre-school teacher, parent, day care provider, or vision professional , teaching a young visually impaired child, this website is here to help.

In cooperation with the The Maryland School for the Blind, and The Maryland State Department of Education Division of Special Education and Early Intervention Services, VI Curriculum draws on many years of experience in working with visually impaired children from birth through kindergarten.

Your challenges are not unique. There are recommended strategies for teaching and implementing curriculum when working with young children with visual impairments.  The good news is that much of it can be created from existing educational resources, and can be used with any young child, regardless if they have a vision impairment.

We suggest you start with the Overview section for general guidelines. Then explore the resource sections and our lending library and bookstore.

Thank you for visiting and investing in these very special children.
